Why Reducing Echo in Classrooms Matters
Walk into most school halls or hard surfaced classrooms and you will hear it straight away, sound bouncing off every wall, floor and ceiling. We installed sound absorption across the ceiling, and the reduction in echo was dramatic. With far less sound bouncing around the room, the hall became a genuinely comfortable place to listen, learn and take part.
Stopping Noise Leaving the Hall
The school had a second problem too. Noise from the hall was escaping down the corridor and blasting the offices, so staff were forced to defer phone calls and work their admin around assemblies and PE lessons.
The fix was a set of double doors, two sets of heavy duty doors with acoustic seals, creating an air gap between them that cuts the sound travelling out of the hall. Now the offices stay usable whatever is happening in the hall, and staff can take calls at any time of day.
